Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. broke ground on two new 500,000-metric-tons-per-year polyethylene units in Old Ocean, Texas. The project is part of the company’s U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemicals Project, which also includes the construction of a 3.3 billion-pounds-per-year ethane cracker at Chevron Phillips’ Cedar Bayou facility in Baytown, Texas. The company broke ground on the Cedar Bayou ethane cracker in April.
Chevron Phillips said the U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemicals Project would create over 400 long-term jobs and 10,000 engineering, construction and fabrication jobs.
