A small fire prompted Total to shut down a reformer, a sulfur recovery unit and an adsorption unit at its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery on Tuesday. Via Reuters, the fire occurred when the 35,000-barrel-per-day reformer lost its feedstock supply, causing a leak. The fire was extinguished within a half an hour, but employees were ordered to shelter in place. There were no injuries.
Reuters notes that it is the fourth fire at a Gulf Coast facility since late last week —the others have occurred at Motiva and Phillips 66 refineries in Louisiana and Sunoco’s oil terminal in Nederland, Texas.
