Motiva started planned maintenance on an FCCU at its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery on Thursday, Platts reports. The unit was expected to be down for seven to 10 days. Platts notes that the planned outage, along with other shutdowns at Shell’s Deer Park, Texas, refinery and Houston Refining, has boosted Gulf Coast gasoline prices.
Motiva joint venture partners Shell and Saudi Aramco in March announced they would be dissolving the partnership. Saudi Aramco will become the sole owner of the Port Arthur site, which is the nation’s largest refinery.
