Dow Chemical today announced it would start construction on its new ethylene production facility in Freeport, Texas, June 30. The company said the project remains on track to begin operations in the first half of 2017. It will employ up to 2,000 workers during construction. The facility will have a nameplate capacity of approximately 1,500 kilotons per year.
Dow’s investment in the facility is part of a multibillion-dollar Gulf Coast-based project aimed at growing its Performance Plastics division and other key segments.
