Dubai-based MEGlobal today announced plans to build a world-scale monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant at Dow Chemical’s Oyster Creek site in Freeport, Texas. The new plant, which will start up in 2019, is expected to create 1,400 construction jobs and 50 new permanent jobs.
MEGlobal and Dow said the MEG plant would be supplied ethylene from a new ethane cracker that is set to start up at Dow Freeport next year.
MEGlobal is a subsidiary of EQUATE Petrochemical Co. — itself a joint venture of Dow, Petrochemical Industries Co., Boubyan Petrochemical Co. and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Co.
