Royal Dutch Shell today announced Marvin Odum, who has run its U.S. business for more than seven years, will retire at the end of March. Odum joined Shell in 1982 as an engineer and held numerous commercial and technical leadership roles on the way to becoming president of Shell Oil Co. in 2008 and upstream Americas director in 2009. Shell said Bruce Culpepper, who currently serves as executive vice president of unconventional resources and regional coordination, will succeed him.
Shell also said its Athabasca Oil Sands Project and Scotford Upgrader in Canada would join its global downstream unit under Downstream Director John Abbott. The company’s shale resources will move into its upstream unit under Upstream Director Andy Brown. Shell will eliminate the position of unconventional resources director that Odum took over Jan. 1.
