A California judge has denied an environmental group’s attempt to block ExxonMobil from restarting its Torrance refinery. Via the Daily Breeze, the Refinery Safety Group last week filed a lawsuit to halt the restart of the refinery, which was damaged in an explosion in February 2015.
The South Coast Air Quality Management District voted in April to allow ExxonMobil to restart the refinery. ExxonMobil is contractually obligated to restart the refinery before it can sell it to PBF Energy.
A restart date has not been announced.
