North Dakota regulators today approved Energy Transfer Partners’ plan to build the $3.8 billion, 1,150-mile Dakota Access crude oil pipeline. Via the Associated Press, Energy Transfer still needs approval from authorities in Iowa, having previously secured permits in South Dakota and Illinois. The Army Corps of Engineers must also approve the pipeline because it would travel beneath the Missouri River twice.
The pipeline will deliver up to 600,000 barrels per day of Bakken crude to another pipeline in Illinois that would provide access to the Midwest and Gulf Coast markets.
