A pipeline breach spilled up to 50,000 gallons of oil into Montana’s Yellowstone River on Saturday. Via the Great Falls Tribune, the area where the oil spill was frozen over, which could reduce the impact to the environment. Authorities said they are unaware of any threats to public safety or health.
Pipeline owner Bridger Pipeline Co. said it shut down the line within an hour of the spill. The company estimates between 300 and 1,200 barrels of oil were spilled.
