Westlake Chemical Corp. announced Friday it had started up a new 350,000-electrochemical-unit-per-day chlor-alkali plant at its vinyls facility in Geismar, La. The new plant has more than doubled Westlake’s chlor-alkali capacity, complementing existing capacity at its Calvert City, Ky., plant. The new chlor-alkali plant has resulted in 70 new full-time positions at Westlake’s Geismar facility.
