NEDERLAND, TX — Industrial Safety Training Council (ISTC) recently recognized 91 contractor companies for outstanding safety achievements for work performed in the Gulf Coast area during the calendar year 2014. A total of 210 awards were presented for years worked, hours worked, incidence rate reduction and sustained performance of “zero” incidence rate.
ISTC’s “Safety Trainer of the Year” award recognizes an outstanding safety trainer who has contributed to the success of a company’s safety program and has received outstanding recognition as a trainer. ISTC’s 2015 “Safety Trainer of the Year” is Charles Pertuit, technical/tafety Trainer for Hoist & Crane Service Group. Pertuit has over 25 years’ experience training co-workers and customers in technical and safety aspects. Pertuit was described by his peers as having “dedication to performing the job and as having knowledge and experience in the industry that is unsurpassed.” He was also described as someone who “goes above and beyond to help out anyone that needs anything.”
ISTC’s most prestigious award, the Roy Comeaux Safety Excellence Through Training Award, was presented to Newtron Beaumont, located in Nederland. Newtron Beaumont has been providing electrical and instrumentation services to the industrial construction and commercial markets for over 35 years. Finalists in the Roy Comeaux Safety Excellence Through Training Award category were Cooling Towers of Texas, Emission Monitoring Service Inc., Steel Painters Inc., Triple “S” Industrial Corp. and Zachry Group.
The presentation of the ISTC safety awards is part of a comprehensive safety awards program, which the association’s Curriculum & Program Committee has developed to promote safety through training in the contractor industry and to publicly recognize the excellent record of safety these contractors have achieved.
