Axiall on Wednesday announced its PHH vinyl chloride monomer manufacturing facility in Lake Charles, La., had been restored to full operating rates after sustaining damage in a December fire. Axiall President and CEO Paul Carrico said the unit returned to full service in June but followed a slower ramp up to full operating rates.
The fire broke out early in the afternoon of Dec. 20 and burned for nearly an hour before being extinguished by emergency responders. No injuries were reported, but the PHH unit was idled for repairs. Axiall announced in April it had repaired the unit.
