CVR Refining shut down its Coffeyville, Kan., refinery after a fire broke out at the facility’s isomerization unit early this morning. Four employees were hospitalized with burn-related injuries. No explosion was reported. According to a statement from the City of Coffeyville, CVR employees were working on a pump when it caught fire, with flames engulfing the area. The fire was extinguished less than an hour after it started.
The 115,000-barrel-per-day Coffeyville refinery produces gasoline, diesel fuels and propane. It was the site of a small FCCU fire in December 2010 that resulted in reduced crude oil throughput.
