A pipeline owned by Plains All American burst, spilling 10,000 gallons of crude oil into a Los Angeles neighborhood on Thursday. Reuters reported that cleanup crews were working this morning to vacuum up the oil, which was knee-high in some areas, according to the local fire department. The Associated Press reported that four people were evacuated from a local business with respiratory complaints and two were taken to a hospital.
The Plains West Coast pipeline runs from Bakersfield, Calif., to a storage facility in Long Beach, Calif. Reuters said it is unclear whether local refineries owned by Phillips 66, Valero and Tesoro would experience supply disruptions as a result of the spill.
