A crude pipeline at a Hilcorp Alaska production site on the North Slope leaked over the weekend, and crews have recovered nearly 4,000 gallons of oil. Via KTUU-TV in Anchorage, the leak was first spotted early Saturday morning. State officials said the cause is under investigation and that an unknown amount of produced fluids were released to the well pad and the surrounding tundra. A blizzard hindered cleanup efforts on Saturday — crews weren’t able to return to the site until Sunday evening.
