The nationwide refinery workers’ strike is set to continue as union negotiators on Thursday rejected the oil companies’ latest offer. Via Reuters, the United Steelworkers union said lead industry negotiator Shell’s offer failed to improve safety at refineries and chemical plants in an “enforceable way.” The union also told non-striking workers to be prepared to walk out in the coming days. The offer came after a one-week hiatus in negotiations. More than 5,000 workers at 11 refining and petrochemical facilities are on strike.
