Dow Chemical today said two separate process incidents that occurred during the week of April 20 led to disruptions at two ethylene units and one benzene unit in Plaquemine, La. Dow has suspended production of ethylene for three to four weeks and will reduce benzene production for more than five weeks while it works to restore normal operations. Dow’s downstream derivatives unit will run at reduced rates with ethylene supplied from a pipeline the company owns. No injuries to site personnel were reported.
