Chevron and Hess Corp. today announced that the Tubular Bells project in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico had begun producing oil and gas. The field is located 135 miles southeast of New Orleans in approximately 4,300 feet of water in the Mississippi Canyon area. Tubular Bells is expected to produce 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from three wells.
Chevron has a 42.86% working interest in the development. Operator Hess owns the remaining 57.14%.
