CHS Inc. has started up a new coker unit at its McPherson, Kansas, refinery, the company announced today. The new unit replaces a coker that was built in 1952 and will allow the refinery to process a wider variety of crude oils. It expands the refinery’s capacity from 85,000 barrels per day to 100,000 barrels per day.
CHS is also working on an expansion project at its Laurel, Montana, refinery that will bring the combined capacity of the two refineries to 160,000 barrels per day by 2019.
Minnesota-based CHS is a diversified farmer-owned cooperative that supplies agricultural products and services and business services, in addition to its petroleum refining business.
