The Western States Petroleum Association today urged California and Contra Costa officials to take a thoughtful and cautious approach as it considers wholesale changes to safety programs recommended by the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB).
WSPA President Catherine Reheis-Boyd said moving too quickly to adopt some of the new programs being recommended by the CSB could inject a high level of complexity and confusion into long-standing and successful safety programs, thereby increasing, not decreasing, the risk of accidents.
