Eastman Chemical announced today it would expand carboxylic acids capacity at its Longview, Texas, and Kingsport, Tenn., facilities to meet increased demand. The expansions, which will give Eastman an additional 50 million pounds of carboxylic acids capacity, are expected to be complete by the fourth quarter of 2014.
“These are important intermediate materials and we continue to invest in them,” said Chip Millican, business manager for Eastman’s Organic Intermediates unit. “Additionally, our engineers have identified at least 20 million pounds of additional low cost capacity that could be implemented in the future as demand dictates.
