Ineos may expand annual ethylene production at its Chocolate Bayou site near Houston from 250 million pounds to 1 billion pounds, Bloomberg reports. Company CEO Dennis Seith said in an interview the company could also add polypropylene and alpha olefins capacity at the site. Seith said decisions on all three projects would come within a year.
It would be the latest in a flurry of ethylene capacity expansions in the Gulf Coast driven by abundant shale gas.
