Thailand-based petrochemical and refining company PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) and Japanese firm Marubeni have selected a site in Belmont County, Ohio, for a proposed ethane cracker. The two firms have been evaluating sites in the Marcellus and Utica shale region for the past two years. PTTGC and Marubeni are expected to make a final investment decision on the multibillion-dollar project in 2016. The firms will spend the next 12 to 16 months on engineering design and permitting at the selected site.
