Tesoro Corp. is considering restarting a shuttered reformer at its Golden Eagle refinery near Martinez, Calif., Bloomberg reports. Sources say Tesoro is cleaning out the reformer as it considers restarting the unit to supply feedstock to chemical plants in Asia and other markets. Tesoro is also developing a $400 million mixed xylene plant at its Anacortes, Wash., refinery that would use reformate from the Golden Eagle plant. The company will make a final investment decision on the xylene plant, which would recover as many as 15,000 barrels of xylene per day, early next year.
