Total’s president of refining and chemicals on Tuesday said his firm would decide in the third quarter whether or not to build a $2 billion steam cracker in Port Arthur, Texas. Via FuelFix, Philippe Sauquet said during an interview at IHS CERAWeek the project could be completed within three years. Sauquet also said Total is still seeking a 50% investment partner on the project, and that the company has identified some prospects.
Total began front-end engineering and design work on the project last September.
