Alberta regulators have approved the construction of a CAN$800 million, 56-mile pipeline that would transport bitumen and diluent products to a tank farm in Fort McMurray. TransCanada will design, build, own and operate the Northern Courier Pipeline Project, which will transport oil from a mine and extraction facility owned by Fort Hills Energy. TransCanada CEO Russ Girling said in a statement construction would begin in the third quarter of this year and will be in service by 2017.
