WADSWORTH, Ohio — Portable tools to resurface flange gasket areas and bolt patterns up to 66 inches outside diameter (OD) are available for rental or purchase by H&S Tool. They are offered in inside diameter (ID) and OD mount versions to match the job requirements and site conditions. All models can be adjusted to apply the desired surface finish. The smaller model will produce a finish from 63 to 250 root mean square (RMS). The others can apply a finish up to 500 RMS.
ID mount tools are used on flanges from three-fourths of an inch ID to 16.25 inches OD. They use locking systems to center the tool automatically in the flange and remove torque from being transmitted to the operator. For most models, elbow mandrels are offered to replace the standard locking system where minimal straight surface is available or additional adjustment is needed. In most cases, the tool can be field converted back to a tube/pipe machining tool.
OD mount split frame models quickly and accurately machine flanges up to 66 inches OD. They are easily converted from an in-line cutting and beveling machine to a flange resurfacer by simply mounting the counter-bore attachment to the tool slide.
