GONZALES, La. — A payout of $4,000 was awarded to the winners of the Alliance Safety Council’s recent “Think Safe. Think Family.” barbecue cook-off at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales. For the fifth consecutive year, this International Barbeque Cookers Association (IBCA) State Championship competition featured local cookers and attracted teams from across the state and the state line.
Grand Champion of the event was Rhonda Titus of Me, My Chicken and I, while Andrew Simpson with Holy Mohler was named reserve grand champion. A large contingent of Alliance Safety Council board members, staff, and member company representatives, contractor employees and community volunteers conducted scoring of the 35 teams involved in the competition.
