ALACHUA, Fla. — The Construction Industry Institute (CII) Annual Conference was attended by more than 700 construction representatives. NCCER’s Build Your Future initiative and Back Tee Sports hosted a Scramble for Skills Recruitment Drive and Golf Tournament to benefit scholarships for new recruits entering the industry. The event had 85 golfers, representing over 35 industry companies and organizations.
At the conference, Build Your Future hosted “Survey Says: Recruitment Requires Commitment,” which highlighted the construction industry’s growing opportunities, aging work force and how to attract young people entering the work force. Attendees heard directly from craft professionals, who are part of the millennial generation — the future of the industry’s work force. They discussed their paths to success, inspiration for joining the industry and how employers can recruit the new generation of skilled craft professionals.
