ISSAQUAH, Wash. — NAES Corp. recently achieved 1 million man-hours of operation without a lost time accident at the Ferndale Generating Station, owned by Puget Sound Energy (PSE) and operated by NAES.
Located in Ferndale, Washington, the station was developed by Tenaska and operated by NAES from 1993 to 2002. Subsequently, the station was operated by Tenaska. In 2008, the station achieved OSHA Star VPP status and has been recertified through 2016. The station was purchased by PSE in 2012, with NAES once again serving as operator. The station employs 20 people, with nine of those employed since inception.
“NAES is extremely proud of the staff at the Ferndale Generating Station,” said Bob Fishman, NAES president and CEO. “The station has attained an outstanding record for safety, environmental compliance and technical performance since day one. This station is a Star VPP site, which is an awesome achievement. A 20-year period without a lost time accident is what the NAES SAFE initiative is all about, and that lengthy period of time lends credence to the saying ‘Do it like Ferndale’!”
