Have you ever made a wish by throwing some coins in a well, fountain or while blowing out your birthday candles? Did your wish come true? What if you were to learn a life process that when implemented helped you achieve your wishes and desires? If you knew that such a formula existed, would you be brave enough to try it out in your life? The success formula I am about to describe has been utilized and shared by successful people of all ages across generations. In this formula, you create the definition of what success means for you. I like to define success as the continued expansion of happiness and the progressive realization of worthy goals. This article is dedicated to helping you achieve whatever you want to be, whatever you want to do or whatever you want to have in your lifetime. If you believe this is possible, keep reading and get ready to discover the success formula for getting what you want.
Step 1 — Have a desire
“Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.” — Napoleon Hill
Desire is the first step in getting what you want. You must identify what you desire to have, acquire or achieve in your lifetime. What specifically do you desire? Do you want greater love, money, career, travel, happiness or to live a more significant life? Think carefully about what it is you really want to be, do or have. Have you ever written your desires or a “bucket list” down on paper? If you have, retrieve and review them. If not, I suggest you take time now to write down at least 101 things you would like to be, do and have. If you were holding Aladdin’s magic lamp, what would you wish of him right now?
Step 2 — Make a request
“Ask, and it shall be given you; Seek, and ye shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” — Bible, New Testament, Matthew 7:7
The second step to getting what you want is to make a request for what you desire. Simply put — just ask! Are you willing to ask for what you want? I truly hope so! In the popular book, “The Aladdin Factor,” Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen provide us with five quick tips to help us ask for what we desire:
1. Ask as if you expect to get it — Ask for what you want as if you cannot fail to get a yes.
2. Assume you can — We all know what happens when we think we can’t. That’s right, it just won’t happen. You have to have a positive outlook and believe you can get what you desire.
3. Ask someone who can give it to you — Identify who has or can help you get what you desire.
4. Be clear and specific — Vague desires get vague results. What exactly do you want? Writing this down will provide you with greater clarity. Remember, what you think about you will bring about.
5. Ask repeatedly — Most people never ask and if they do, they give up when they get the first no. Have you ever seen a child stop with one no? It never happens, so why should you stop when you get rejected? You may have to ask in different ways, but don’t give up until you get what you want.
I suggest you start each request with asking yourself and your higher power for what you want. Think of this as filling out a purchase order to the universe.
Step 3 — State your intention
“A good intention clothes itself with power.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
The third step in getting what you want is to state your intention of what you desire. Intention can be defined as a strong purpose or aim, accompanied by a determination to produce a desired result. Have you read Wayne Dyer’s life altering book, “The Power of Intention?” In this book, Dr. Dyer takes our understanding of intention to a deeper level. We learn intention is a field of energy that flows invisibly beyond the reach of our normal, everyday habitual patterns. To tap into this “field of intention,” he suggests we implement the following actions:
1. Visualize your intention. Use creativeness, beauty, kindness, love and receptivity to see you getting your desire.
2. Be reflective and live without judgment. How many times have you beat yourself up emotionally or blamed someone or your circumstances for not getting what you want?
3. Expect beauty in everything you see.
4. Meditate on appreciation. Have an attitude of gratitude and appreciate what you have today and tomorrow will take care of itself.
5. Banish doubt and allow abundance to flourish. Trust in your higher power and know you live in an abundant universe that will provide you with all your desires. I suggest you state your intention with feeling and confidence and act as if you already have everything you desire.
Step 4 — Want with passion
“When you set yourself on fire, people love to come and see you burn.” — John Wesley, Evangelist (18th century)
The fourth step is having passion for what you desire. Passion is the energy or fuel that permits you to achieve whatever you desire. Dr. John Maxwell in his book, “Talent is Never Enough,” tells us passion increases willpower, produces energy and is the foundation for excellence and the key to success. If you really want something, you must desire it with passion. Dr. Maxwell provides us with three suggestions on how to ignite your passion.
1. Prioritize your life according to your passion — I believe what you think about most, you will bring about. Don’t put your desires on the back burner. Keep them hot and in focus and make achieving them very important to you.
2. Protect your passion — You can’t let others put your passion out. You must protect it at all costs. You must own your desires and not let others sway you from what you desire. Do not let the naysayers or doubters stop you from achieving your dreams.
3. Pursue your passion with everything you’ve got — You must put your heart into achieving your desires. Have you heard the saying, “If it is meant to be, it’s up to me?” Your wants will be fulfilled if you are committed and you put every ounce of energy you have into it. When you have passion and commitment, you don’t need a complex plan. Your plan is your life, which is your dream.
In summary, to get all that you want, you must have a wish, make a request, state an intention and pursue it with passion. Take “inspired action” and put this formula to use in your life and watch all your wishes and dreams come true!
