LyondellBasell today announced plans to increase tri-ethylene glycol (TEG) capacity at its ethylene oxide and ethylene glycol plant in Pasadena, Texas. The project will add 50 million pounds per year of TEG production — more than doubling LyondellBasell’s current capacity. LyondellBasell Vice President of Intermediates and Derivatives Pat Quarles said long-term demand in the North American oilfield, construction and automotive markets makes the project a “logical extension” of the company’s high-quality glycol derivative business. The new unit is expected to be in service late next year.
